First thing first, a big CONGRATULATIONS to Tim Coley for his recent promotion to Water Treatment Plant Superintendent.

For over 30 years Tim has been a dedicated City employee working his way up through the ranks of the Public Works Department. Tim started out with the City as a temporary Park Maintenance Worker, then on to regular full time positions of Street Maintenance Worker, Water/Sewer Pipefitter, Cross Connection Control Specialist, Water Treatment Plant Operator, Water Treatment Plant Supervisor and his new position as Water Treatment Plant Superintendent.

Tim developed a passion for the water industry early in his career and has never looked back. During his tenure with the City, Tim has attained an impressive level of certifications in municipal water quality management systems including: State Water Resources Control Board; T5 Treatment Certificate; D4 Distribution Certificate and a Cross Connection Control Specialist Certificate. Tim also served as Chair of the Operators Division of the California-Nevada Section of American Water Works Association.

Tim’s vision for the Water Treatment Plant focuses on quality, safe drinking water that is provided in the safest and most efficient manner. The City is very fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and well rounded person dedicated to our water production needs. Thank you, Tim, for your dedication, hard work and commitment to the City of Antioch. You are going to be an excellent Water Treatment Plant Superintendent.

Maintaining and Enhancing

Little things make a difference at Prosserville Park. The Antioch Public Works Department installed new rims and refurbished the backboards on the basketball court. The community continues to show strong ownership and use of this wonderful park; come on out and join in the fun.

Our Vac-Con trucks offer many useful options when it comes to cleaning and repairing our infrastructure. The Vac-Con is equipped with a 16 cubic yard tank that can hold 3,200 gallons of water and debris and we utilize these trucks to their fullest capabilities. During cleaning operations we use over a 1,000 feet of hose with 3,000 PSI to remove roots, grease and debris from sewer pipes. The vacuum system is able to remove large amounts of dirt without damaging the pipes. It also has the capacity to vacuum debris 30 feet down a manhole. Proactively cleaning out storm drain line 15’ feet underground keeps storm drains clean and open for storm water runoff. This is just one of the vehicles in our fleet that helps make a clean, safe and beautiful Antioch.

Ghilotti Brothers Construction recently completed the seventh phase of the City’s Downtown Pavement Roadway Rehabilitation program. This project removed and replaced the asphalt concrete pavement on West Seventh Street from ‘D’ to ‘G’ Streets, West Eighth Street from ‘D’ to ‘G’ Streets, ‘E’ Street from West Sixth and West Tenth Streets and ‘F’ Street from West Sixth and West Ninth Streets. Six intersections were completely rebuilt to improve storm water drainage and pedestrian access. Twenty-four curb ramps were constructed and numerous improvements were made to deteriorating, damaged and uneven concrete flatwork within the project area.

The Antioch Public Works Water Distribution crew, featuring State Certified Distribution Operators, Simon Kemp, and Nick Wilson are pictured at Dunes Court excavating a water main so that they could repair a break in a residential water service line. During the excavation process, the crew operates heavy construction equipment such as backhoes and 10 wheel dump trucks. Then they probe the excavation area to locate the service line and begin the repairs. Delivering safe, quality water to our customers is our top priority and we always aim to minimize disruptions in water service during these necessary repairs.
