The legendary #SanFranciscoStandUpComedyCompetition will return to El Campanil in a big way this year, starting on Saturday, January 15th, with performances by three past winners of the event and a recent runner-up.
Yes, all in one show, two recent champs, Ellis Rodriguez and Sterling Scott, hosted by another top finisher (and Pittsburg native), Johnny Steele, plus near-winner Gina Stahl-Haven. It doesn’t get any funnier than a show of this caliber.
Come out over Martin Luther King weekend to laugh at and with Best of the SF Comedy Competition. Then find out what else the Comedy Competition has in store for Antioch later in the year!
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
STERLING SCOTT is a rising star in the Canadian comedy scene and a crowd favourite. His most recent accomplishments on and off the stage include, being signed by Kevin Hart and the LOL network to a development deal, Winner of the San Francisco Comedy Competition, a performance on Crave’s Stellar Stand ups, a track on the Just for Laughs 2018 premium album, multiple national televised performances on CBC and CTV as well as two comedy albums, and a podcast entitled “the comedy reject” which are available on all streaming platforms.
ELLIS RODRIGUEZ is a stand-up comedian from Northern California who is known to be โhella funnyโ and one of the the best Stand Ups on the scene. A U.S. Marine with a classic case of middle kid syndrome, heโs the funniest of 9 children raised by parents from Panama. Itโs complicated. But Ellis uses the diversity of his life to establish rapport with anyone. His energy and charisma have made him a regular headliner at The Improv, Laughโs Unlimited, and Tommy Tโs to name a few.
If youโve missed Ellis Rodriguez, youโre missing out. Lucky for you, heโs literally just getting started. Most recently Ellis was featured on Kevin Hartโs Comedy Central show โHart of The Cityโ. Winner of the San Francisco Comedy Competition, and the San Diego Comedy Festival.

GINA STAHL-HAVEN is one of the fastest rising comics in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has been performing in the comedy and improv world for over 15 years and is the 2nd Place Winner of the 2019 San Francisco International Comedy Competition (the first woman in 34 years and the only woman other than Ellen Degeneres to hold this title). Gina has been featured in the Boston Comedy Festival, the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas, Un-Scripted Theatre Company, SF Improv Festival, Hawaii Improv Festival, on the Andrea Savage podcast, and headlining at comedy clubs throughout the country. Frequently recognized for her captivating story-telling, Ginaโs real take on life, motherhood, dating, and navigating Costco; combined with her intoxicating stage presence make her irresistible to watch.
Bay area native JOHNNY STEELE has been a comedian, comedy writer, broadcaster, actor, and keynote speaker, for over 30 years. Johnnyโs performed stand up comedy across the US, Canada, and overseas, and has been seen on MTV, A&E, Comedy Central, and PBS. Johnny has hosted his own daily morning radio and TV talk shows in San Francisco (KITS LIVE 105 radio, KRON/BAY TVโs The Show), written humor for folks ranging from Emmy award winning musicians to CEOs to Robin Williams, and can currently be seen in documentaries 3 Still Standing and Robinโs Wish.</b>The legendary #SanFranciscoStandUpComedyCompetition will return to El Campanil in a big way during 2022, kicking things off Saturday, January 15th, with performances by three past winners of the event and a recent finalist, special guest Chelsea Bearce.
