Mads Tolling is a three-time Grammy Award nominated Artist, and two-time winner. He is last year’s winner of the DownBeat Critics Poll Rising Star Award and is a former longtime member of Stanley Clarke’s Band and the Turtle Island Quartet. Mads has been featured on NPR’s Morning Edition and in the Washington Post, and he has performed with Kenny Barron, Ramsey Lewis and Paquito D’Rivera. In 2014 Mads was commissioned by Michael Morgan and Oakland Symphony to write a violin concerto, which was premiered at the Paramount Theatre to much fanfare in 2015. Mads released his “Playing the 60s” CD album last year, which instantly became a favorite amongst fans and critics alike, and landed in the top 30 for two months straight on US Jazz radio. Mads has created a fun and exciting show that touches on the nostalgic as well as the contemporary. It includes timeless movie themes, popular TV classics, and celebrated songs ranging from “Mission Impossible”, “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” and “Meet the Flintstones” to “Georgia on My Mind” and “A Taste of Honey”.
