In 2014, the City hired Tammany Brooks IV as a part-time temporary employee during the summer months to assist our crews in cleaning up the creeks and channels throughout the City. This type of work is some of the most challenging and less popular things that we do. The young man kept coming back year after year for summer work when he was out of school. In May 2017, while working part-time, he secured a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the University of San Francisco. In August 2019, Tammany was hired full-time as a Public Works Technician, and in December 2019, he completed his Master’s Degree in Business Administration at the California Coast University!
One of the things that I appreciate most about Tammany is that he really gets what it means to be a “Team Player”. When people need help … there is no hesitation to provide precisely what is needed, and he manages to stay on top of his own responsibilities. He also never seeks personal recognition in anything he does.
With his financial and business education, he has quickly become a resource for purchasing and smaller size contract work. In the short time he has been a regular full-time employee, he has become well-respected and with the reputation of being a person who gets things done. Nothing short of excellence is the plan for this young man, and he is well on his way!
Congratulations Tammany! We are all very proud of you!
