Along with several other Antioch families who hosted delegates (5 teenagers and 9 adults) from our Sister City, Chichibu Japan, City Manager Ron Bernal, and his wife was honored to host Mayor Kuki for the week. Established in 1967, this year we celebrated 50 years of friendship (as we did last year with the Antioch delegation who visited Chichibu) with a tree planting ceremony and bar-b-que attended by Council Members Ogorchock and Tiscareno at Chichibu Park. A Welcome Dinner at Lone Tree Golf and Event Center honoring our guests was attended by the entire City Council.
Mayor Wright is the president of the Antioch/Chichibu Sister City Organization. He and his family spend two weeks each time the Chichibu delegation comes to town showing them the sights of Antioch and visiting other areas of interest in the state. “Having had the privilege to visit Chichibu last year, I can attest to the very special bond we have with these amazing lifelong friends,” stated Ron Bernal.
